Nokia N95: It's What Computers Have Become

N95

Nokia takes a bold marketing approach when it compared its latest Nokia N95 to the power of personal computers (see video below). I can't blame these guys. After all, who would no€™t be tempted to do so if you have Internet, GPS, Camera, DVD-like Quality video, MP3, and video streaming all packed in a one, powerful mobile phone?

But the big question is, are you ready to pay $750 for one hell of a phone?

Downsides

Pricey!
Nokia sure does compare N95 to a laptop even in terms of pricing. For $750, you can even buy a decent, brand new laptop.

Relatively short battery life
Understandably, loading different applications will obviously drain batteries quickly. While most mobile devices have more than 3 days standby time, N95 is only for a good after using all its key features!

Verdict
If you are not a gadget geek, I'm saying NO for N95! All these features will just be a waste of money and will take you forever to learn the ropes! If you're a Nokia loyalist, there are other Nseries available that you might want to consider (will review them some other time).

Get Back to Basics with Nokia 3109

01_3109_classic_lowresAlthough there are multitudes of technological advances connected to our mobile phones, there are times when we crave for something simple. After all we basically want to talk and text from time to time. Forget mobile TV, mobile Internet, and other features that 90% of the time will not be used.

Ironically, finding a simple cellphone nowadays is quite complicated. Good thing there is a new Nokia 3109 classic. I like to call this revolutionary despite its simplicity. Why? Because mobile users are actually yearning, in fact waiting, for simple phones! Yet, nobody is listening until now.

Nokia 3109 costs about EUR 140 or $188, designed for consumers and companies who appreciate simplicity and value for money.

Key Features:

- Long battery life with 4 hours talk time and 16 days stand-by time
- 2,000 entry phonebook
- Expandable to 2GB with a microSD memory card
- Integrated hands free speaker
- Organizer with calendar, to-do list and notes
- PC suite with USB, Bluetooth connectivity
- Music player
- E-mail client with attachments

"We recognize that a sizeable number of people just want a mobile phone to stay in touch on their own terms," said John Barry, Director, Mobile Phones, Nokia. "For these individuals, and for companies who want to support their employees by providing a mobile phone, the Nokia 3109 classic offers strong functionality and adheres to certain corporate privacy and security policies."

In case you’re not a fan of iPhone and other latest smartphones available in the market, get back to basics with this classic Nokia 3109.

The World Awaits iPhone

 Iphonespecs_3

Leveraging on the success of iPod , Apple Inc. is keen on shaking the mobile industry this time with its revolutionary mobile device called iPhone. In the past months, too much hype was created for this product. Thanks to the marketing prowess of Steve Jobs and thousands of bloggers worldwide.

In case you’ve been out of the loop recently, iPhone is a mobile device that converge the power and functionalities of a cellphone, widescreen iPod, and internet communications such as web browsing, maps, etc. if that is not interesting enough, imagine having that in a small and lightweight device measuring 4.5 inches tall!

As part of Apple’s notorious innovativeness, iPhone is expected to redefine the way people use mobile phones with its powerful convergence of technologies. It is expected to be out in the market by June in exclusive partnership with AT&T.

As we all know, there is a price to pay for every new technology in town. In the case of iPhone it’s $499 for a 4GB model and $599 for 8GB, way above average price of mobile phones in the market. However, analysts believe there will be major price cuts later on, dropping the retail price by up to 50%.

Will You Buy?

While most mobile users are aware and impressed about iPhone, it is ironic to know that only 6% are willing to buy according to a market survey. As expected, price is the main culprit for such a low rating.

As for me, I say wait for the competitors to enter before indulging in this revolutionary mobile device. There are some rumors about Google Phone and Microsoft’s version called oFone.
