The World Awaits iPhone
Leveraging on the success of iPod , Apple Inc. is keen on shaking the mobile industry this time with its revolutionary mobile device called iPhone. In the past months, too much hype was created for this product. Thanks to the marketing prowess of Steve Jobs and thousands of bloggers worldwide.
In case you’ve been out of the loop recently, iPhone is a mobile device that converge the power and functionalities of a cellphone, widescreen iPod, and internet communications such as web browsing, maps, etc. if that is not interesting enough, imagine having that in a small and lightweight device measuring 4.5 inches tall!
As we all know, there is a price to pay for every new
technology in town. In the case of iPhone it’s $499 for a 4GB model and $599
for 8GB, way above average price of mobile phones in the market. However, analysts believe there will be major price
cuts later on, dropping the retail price by up to 50%.
Will You Buy?
While most mobile users are aware and impressed about
iPhone, it is ironic to know that only 6% are willing to buy according to a market
survey. As expected, price is the main culprit for
such a low rating.
As for me, I say wait for the competitors to enter
before indulging in this revolutionary mobile device. There are some rumors
about Google Phone and
Microsoft’s version called oFone.

The iPhone is expected to create ripples. Sramana Mitra on her blog had mentioned how the iPhone would affect the future. And it now seems to be coming true. Here's a really thoughtful analysis by Sramana Mitra on why the iPhone is significant.
